The legend usually goes that there is a cursed place in the peaks where a demoness waits for unwary men, and that their fate is sealed when she sees them. Legends are, of course, mostly fiction and the mountain pass seems a convenient one so there are always some who will take it. However, most legends sometimes contain an element of truth...and some legends quite a bit more than others.
